Run your damn kicker out before the ref sets the chains and you win the game. Its a shame the game had to end that way. What a finish it would have been if they get the kick off.Last edited by Bama96 on November 22nd, 2009, 3:28 am, edited 1 time in total.
I could not imagine what in the world they were thinking. No way in the world to spike the ball with 1 second left on the clock. The field goal unit should have been ready to get on the field the play before that one. Theres no excuse. That was extremely poor decision making, planning and clock management.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Above all of that with 1 second left pending you can not get a center, spotter and kicker on the field, throw the derned thing! Not spike it on your last play of a game. You know they feel pretty down right now with the game management those last 40 seconds.
Should have had he field goal unit on standby….but, I do think the QB for LSU was supposed to throw the ball in the end zone on the Hail Mary….the pressure got to him and he had to throw it early, before the receivers could reach the goal line….not what the LSU staff was expecting I guess!!!!!!!
Everything that has been said so far in this thread is pretty much right on…but it was still one of the most fun games to watch that Ive seen for a while. Well…other than last Sunday when my COLTS beat the Pats!!
Worst clock management I have ever witnessed! How can you not run a play or kick a FG!
Ive thought it for 2-3 years LSU fans- He reminds me of a another genius manager that went for 2 in the that game in the first half and it almost cost him. What are you thinking? You get paid 2+ million per year you outta be a heck of a lot more prepared than that. Neither has shown their worth at that salary. LSU you can do MUCH better than him.C.O.D. Jr. III
You are all correct. But lets not forget that the game was really lost the play before when they had 27 seconds left on the clock and they didnt call time out until it clicked down to 9 seconds. Not to mention the terrible play calling after the big first down play to Brandon Lafell. On the 32 yard line and in our kickers field goal range how about a couple of runs to try to pick up a few more yards and make the kick more manageable. I could go on and on about the terrible calling and coaching in this game. Really makes me sick. Congrats to Ole Miss and Houston Nutt. They were clearly the better team Last night and deserved the win. We really had no business being in that game with the Points Ole Miss should have had in the first half. I would like to hear what the coaching staff has to say to the LSU players that put it all out on the field last night. In no way was this loss on the players shoulders. Really the most mind boggling decisions I have seen in a long time. With that being said, Les Miles is our coach and He will be with us for a couple more years. I can only hope that he improves in his decision making and Time management in these tough games. He is a great recruiter and a people person so people want him to do good. But there was no excuse for a 7-5 record last year and We will probably end up 8-4 this year which is not a testiment to the talent we have. I hope for the best. Good thing is LSU football is just that. Football. It doesnt keep me out of My Bass Cat boat and my fishing holes so Ill be alright. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Shap, your point is the only relevant part of that secquence, the 1 sec thing is mute, no coach could have reacted with 1 sec left on clock. The time run off the clock before that was the key, besides not running straight ahead and preserving the position to be able to kick a long field goal- at least that was a chance. Poor thinking, maybe itll wake someone up!!BAYOU BANDIT
Ive just recovered enough to talk about it. Ive been a Miles supporter, as I think we need long term coach to have consistent winning seasons. However, what happened yesterday was simply inexcusable. There is an obvious pattern of poor decision making here, and its getting old. As far as changing coaches goes, I think were stuck with him for a while, as his buyout is off the charts.
