The registration letters on the side of my p-111 are painted on. I need to get them off to put my new numbers on. I have tried lacquer thinner,acetone,enamal reducer and easy-off oven cleaner. Nothing has even softened them I was told berryman b-12 carbcleaner will work but I know how strong that is and do not want to hurt the clear gel . A ideas besides a razor blade.

Try taping that area off and using a coarse buffing compound, then come back with a finish smooth grade and buff. Should work fine! BCB

What will get the glue off? Bought a used offshore boat and need to get the glue left by the old letters. Oven Cleaner?

I have had good luck with WD-40 let it soak a while and it will soften up the glue. Then clean the WD-40 off with alcohol before installing new stickers.

Goof – Off. Made to remove marker and decal glue. Tape off the area, put some plastic sheeting around the area if you are worried. Put the Goof Off on a towel and rub it on the residue gently. Do the alcohol thing for clean up Spray on some BBS or Nanowax after you put the new decals on. Works great.Last edited by SilvrTour on February 16th, 2008, 2:51 am, edited 1 time in total.

I just used wd-40 on y 07 classic and it worked. You have to use a little elbow grease as well. -Lee

3M makes several products for adhesive removal . I have used part # 08984 many times for sticker glue and carpet glue.
