Need to do minor fiberglass/gelcoat repair to the trailing edge (i.e. at the sharp edge of hull at transom). This area is on top of the carpeted bunk. The dilemma is that i need to lift boat from trailer about six inches off the bunks OR Plan B: pull the boat about six inches back to allow for sanding, etc. on this area. That being said, if I lift it up with a jack under the center pad with say a 2×6 so slightly disperse the load is that too much weight in a small area? Sabre with 150 Mercury 4 stroke and 3/4 tank of gas.Plan B: using the two stainless steel U Bolts at the transom- use a cable or chain to anchor the boat to a tree and use a 4 wheel drive truck to pull the trailer up about six inches. Can the SS U Bolts-transom handle the drag on dry carpet bunks. Not certain if 4 WD 3/4 ton truck can get enough traction, but certainly is possible.A distant Plan C: drive to the nearest lake (25 miles one way) and move the boat about six inches back, therefore exposing the area to be worked on and drive the boat on trailer home to do the work. Problem with this is there will likely be negative tongue weight driving at highway speeds.Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!
