line in prop

most of you may know this, I took my p3 to the shop for a new water pump last week. when I talked to mechanic as I was pickin it up he told me about all the fishing line I had tangled in my prop.. he said that causes major probs. I had no idea fishing line was wrapped around my prop. so if you dont know to check you props then I would take a few minutes and pull it off and check it… hope this helps someone..

I know exactly what youre talkin about, had the same thing happen to me only it took out the seal in there. When my mechanic showed me the seal i couldnt believe it, it was completely ate up. The only reason i even noticed it was i seen some oil/grease on the scag after i loaded my boat after a day of fishing on day. Sure could have been a bad deal if i hadnt of noticed it sonner.

Good advice! Sorry about your troubles but it sounded like you caught it in time. Good time of year to replace the oil in the lower unit and check for water. With the winter temps it blends perfectly for a cracked housing. Judd Lasiter

Wipes out the seals and takes out the oil, this trashed the gearcase totally in time. They dont run well on water lubrication inside the case.
