I run four 29 AGM Batteries on my 2017 Caracal and I am inquiring about changing them to Lithiums. Anyone run these types of batteries?; and if so, please advise on any pros and cons.
Now, I have heard a BC runs better w/ weight and making it lighter by dropping > 200 lbs can cause to sub-optimize performance.
Running Lithium Pro batteries on my Lynx. Small race-style start battery, 100 Ah house battery for the graphs, two (2) 40 Ah 36-volt batteries for the TM. Stealth AC/DC charge-on-the-water system. Been running them almost 1 year now with no problems at all.
Never ran it without them so I can’t tell you about the performance loss. I’ve heard some talk about it but it makes no sense? 76-77 with very good hole shot.
1. Thanks for the quick reply. I feel by having a lighter boat performance will only enhance. My AGM batteries do take a while to fully recharge and no issues w/ my Interstates.
2. On another subject, I believe you have a Evinrude HO, then you must have either a Raker prop or Rx, now-are you opening the vents all the way. I currently have mine opened to a quarter and performance is good. I will continue to open them up until optimized.
Yes I’m running a 300 G2 with a Raker 26. Vents are fully open. Opened them up over the summer but water is cooling down quickly. No blowout issues yet.
I looked back on your initial post when you got her new, yes a 300, what a beast. I am going straight to full open vents.
Reducing weight in any form will help a Caracal run better.
I really appreciate the reply.
How about weight distribution. I have two tanks one in rear port side and the other under the seats. I do get some chine walking at 68-70 mph when they are full. I am getting better with JP and tilt depending on my weight distribution to help keep boat steady. Lighter load can enhance this obstacle? Thank you for the reply.

This could possibly introducing chine at a lower speed. However, your top speed will also increase slightly with the loss of weight.
In my opinion going to Lithium will decrease your hole shot time, accelerate faster and top end should increase a bit. You may have to play with JP height and trim to adjust for the loss of weight, but it should be minimal.
Weight shouldn’t make it easier unless when Performance is maximized. Lighter loads enhance it due to capability more likely.
I got lithiums on my p4 not for weight tho.I bought them so I could use a 24 vlt motor and it last all day.boat sits higher and drafts shallow water better.other than that they don’t like cold weather so if you fish below freezing temp expect problems,as in (no trolling motor)inless you keep them warm.
I’ve been running Lithium Batteries in my BassCats for 4 years now. I highly recommend swapping over to them. First year I swapped just my cranking battery as 4 graphs would kill my Sears 31 Platinum battery if I didn’t run around some during the day. Next year I added 3 trolling motor batteries. I’m running RELiON 100ah 12v each.
I did lots of research on what was out there and RELiON seemed like the best made with multiple breakers in each battery. Another plus is they are individual 12v batteries so if something should go wrong your not dead in the water. RELiON can use the Minn Kota Charger BassCat already installs on the boat so no extra cost for a special charger.
I’ve run them in an Erya and multiple Cougar FTDs. I’m consistently running upper 70’s with full load and pass everyone including other BassCats.
I’m not sponsored by RELiON and I bought my batteries. If your interested to know more email me [email protected]
