This is really for BCB – I recently (9/30) purchased a Cougar AE. I travelled over 7-1/2 hrs. one-way to purchase this rig (thats how bad I wanted a BCB 🙂 ). When trailering the rig home, I realized that the hydraulic surge brake cylinder was not working. It colapsed too easily. I can literally push it in by hand. The resivior was full. Since I live so far from a dealership, I bled the brake system according to the brake manufacturers recommendation. This is not my first rodeo doing this kind of work. Initially, there was a lot of air in the system. After bleeding the brake system by way of a vacuum hand pump and doing it the old fashion way with two people and using the built in ratcheting system, the brakes performance has not changed. I have sent in an extensive email through the “Contact Us” with the serial numbers of my rig last week outling the issue, but have not gotten an acknowledgement. Also, as a side note, when I got home, I found that I almost lost the spare tire because the hardware was not run up on the threads of the bolts holding it. The nylon insert lock nut was not deformed. The other one was missing altogether. On the good note – I love the boat!Appreciate some help and understanding that I am not close to a dealership. I reside in Easley, SC 29642. I believe that the closest BCB dealership is around 3+ hours away one-way. Is there someplace closer that I can get warranty repair of this surge brakes? Or can I get another cylinder? If so, how can I make that happen? Thanks!Kevin
Call the factory. They get right on it. 870-481-5135 Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com
Is this a new boat?C.O.D. Jr. III
Assuming its at least a new trailer as it says so… Still contact the dealer you purchased from and they should get the factory service crew engaged. Sorry or the issues and it sounds like the UFP parts. UFP might also be able to help and give them a call.
Yes – brand new
I have been talking with them at S&S Marine in Clarksville, IN. where I purchased my new rig. I will poke them again, and let you know how I make out. Thanks!
Hello KevinH. Good to see another Cat in the Upstate of SC. I live in Moore, SC and purchased my Cat (last 2 Cats) from Greene Boat and Motor in Spindale, NC. Unfortunately, Greenes has gone another direction and no longer selling Cats. We really need a Cat dealer in the Upstate to service this market. From my house I can be at Keowee, Hartwell, Russell, Clarks Hill, Greenwood, Murray, Wylie, and Norman in less than 2 hours. Santee and Wateree in less than 3 hours. This is pretty much year round fishing. Everybody that sees my Eyra for the first time loves the boat. The conversation ALWAYS ends up at “where do you get one at?” or “where can I see some Bass Cats?”. That is usually the showstopper. We have Ranger/Triton/Nitro dealers and now Skeeter/Phoenix (growing big time in the Upstate) but no Bass Cat representation close (In my opinion Bass Cat is missing a wonderful opportunity to grow by not having a dealer in the Anderson/Greenville/Spartanburg SC area. UFP / Dexter has parts supplies and service all across the country which can assist you under warranty, should their parts be the issue. We also have other BCB dealerships, though often those service centers are very well trained. Have your dealer get with BCB Service and we will bump it up here to them also.

Though it is nice having something unique in the area 🙂 Im running a Mercury 250 ProXS as well. Im breaking it in – almost complete. Absolutely LOVE THE RIG!!! This BCB flies – literally! 🙂 Im 20 minutes to Lake Hartwell, 30 minutes to Lake Keowee, 45 minutes to Lake Jocassee, about an hour to Lake Russell, etc. There is a lot of great bass fishing lakes in this area with a lot of tournements as well. As you know, a lot of marinas in our area have gone out of business due to the economy over the years. Hopefully this will change. Pheonix is dominate in this area right now. Skeeter was, but the local dealership that carries Pheonix and Skeeter just dropped Skeeter – Palmentto Boat Center. They said that they are only going to carry Pheonix and Nitro for bass boats now.

I have sent an email this morning to S&S Marine (Brian Morgan), where I bought my rig from. They have been very responsive in the past. Please dont precieve my postings as a complaint. I realize that we do not live in a perfect world. Im confident that it will be made right. Thanks again! Hopefully BCB will hear from S&S Marine shortly. The bass are moving back up into the creeks with the cold nights hear, so bass fishing has been awesome (work keeps getting in the way – though). As BassCatSC said, fishing is year round here – Love it!
