I went Saturday and was also disappointed that there was only 1 Cat. Billy was there as was Hunter Baughman and they were more than helpful to the people I saw looking. I talked with Hunter for a while and if any of you have never met him, he is a fishing machine and a great guy to know. Great people just a lack of product, in my opinion. Jon
Sorry Guys, There were a limited amount of Rangers (4) in two booths and about seven (7) Skeeters in two booths. All of the Skeeters in one booth were 2011 and 2012 models, while the other booth had a mix of 2012 and 2013 models. Bass Cat has a low inventory policy to prevent issues such as these dealers are facing. There are very few dealerships allowed to purchase more than two to three units for inventory. H2O SportZ sold their Margay recently and the other boat at the store was another Cougar Advantage Elite. BCB made an effort to get another Margay there, though it had a few small scratch issues as it had been run. In Mesquite we had three new units, in Houston we had three new units, in Kansas City we had one new unit, as we had in Little Rock. The Mesquite show had we believe six Skeeter boats, which of those only one was a 2013 and the others were all 2012 models. Bass Cat has positioned to prevent dealers from repeating the same issues of 2008 and the recession years. We will not overload a dealership above our expectations of inventory for their market or their marketing scheme. Sherms, Riverside, Brech, Hide-A-Way, Greenes and a few more will have a bit more inventory. We are not willing to risk the position we found our company and dealerships in during 2008 by saddling up the inventory pony. Some of you may recall how that worked out for some of our competitors. BCB
Im sorry I couldnt attend, as this was a first for me. Family issues had priority, but Im always available to help any of you in the area ! Hope you all have a great upcoming season! And yes, Im still active with the H2O gang, just a bit outta the loop right now.
What about next months classic? Will BCB have several boats on display at the Tulsa convention center? If so, what models? Thanks!
We dont know exactly what models they are planning on having. They are located in the very corner booth and have room for four (4) boats. We do know they are building a Pantera II as a custom build with special things on it for the Classic. Otherwise we think a Jaguar and 350 Verado, Puma FTD and on the fourth we have no idea.
I was just hoping more people could see the quality and craftsmanship that go into Cats. I understand the business side and weighing the pros and cons. H20 has always done a good job for me. When I bought my boat Judy was as instrumental in my getting it as anyone. She took my wife and went over the whole BassCat experience with her and sold her on BassCat. Jon
As one third of H2O, let me say that we would have loved to have had 5-6 Bass Cat Boats in the show. I appreciate how BCB answered the post. I can tell you also, that I thank them for having the crystal ball to realize just where this market is, in particular where our market is. H2O has seven employees that we try to keep on the floor at the dealership as full time employees, in short we have seven families directly effected by what we sale and how we go about paying our bills. BCB has been with us from before we opened the doors, and for that we are so grateful for what they have done for us and how they continue to support us through the good times and the bad times. To own and operate a boat dealership has been extremely difficult for the past four to five years. Last year we had a pretty good year, frankly due to our tin boat sales. We were the largest Lowe dealer in the United States. We would love to be the largest BCB dealership in the country, but the local market does not support that. We want all of your busines, your friends business your wives business, and your childrens business. We want our competitiors business for service and we hope that the BCB family who read this board will push service toward our service department. We need your business and business from those whom you know. Give us the chance to earn your business. We have no idea what 2013 will hold as far as the economy goes, frankly, I do not beleive it will be a good as 2012, I hope Im wrong! Those who know me personally know that Im a glass is halve full person. I am proud to say that we at least had current product at the show, not old stuff for you to look at again. We have one dealer demo that is a 2012, my Bass Cat, that is for sale, I do not believe we have any other outdated product. For this Im happy, because we are not paying interest on a floor plan, as those at the show who had several of last years and before models. That expense will close your doors in a hurry. This is what BCB was saying when they answered this post.Any boat dealership that has survived the last few years, I say congratulations. It takes support from our boat companies like BCB to be able to say, we survived!! Again, thanks BCB, thanks to our customers and I hope I see and hear from all of you during 2013!!J Hall
