Live Well Control Lever – What Does Right Look Like?

Having problems figuring out what the proper configuration of my live well control lever should look like. I suspect the correct config has “vibrated” to a situation where I can no longer close the live well after filling. I suspect nothing is broken, but just needs to be returned to the proper config, but I dont know what “Right Looks Like”……. The cable fastens in the U area of the brass looking bracket. You cant figure it out I will try to get you a picture.Dan

Thanks Dan – based on what you see, are all the parts there and I just need to reconfigure it inside the “u” or does it appear I have any broken parts….? The part I cant figure out is the black “nipple” closest to where the cable connects to the lever.

Scott looks like the plastic piece closest to the cable to lever connection is broke off from the threaded section. It is all just plastic on mine and looks the same on yours.Dan

Thanks Dan – I was afraid that might be the case – Im almost thinking a better fix would be to get another brass nut to place on the other side (lever side) of the thread to secure the cable sleeve ti the U bracket……

I just replaced mine as it broke in the same place when some acorns got in the bilge and jammed the valve. I tried repairing it with another nut, but the plastic threads alone were not strong enough and it broke again. Just get a new cable and save yourself some grief.http://www.basscatstore.com/controlvalveactuator.aspx

A lot of these problems could be avoided with a little beefing up. I have one that needs replaced as well but with a rotator cuff problem and still in physical therapy I am not sure it is something I can handle. I wish it just had a plug.Dan

That has already been pushed to find a thinset nut to replace the plastic part. That is the FlowRite design however.

I could not complain as mine was only 14 years old when it broke, and while getting down into the bilge to get the other end loose I found some items that needed some attention on the pumps and hoses.
