I love my cougar and it is very hard to find something that would make it better, but I think Ive found one. Has basscat ever considered offering a bow control station for the livewell system? Ive found occasions during a days fishing that this would come in handy and would be willing to add one if it existed. On the other hand, Ive found no use for the bow accessory and nav lighting switches.
The livewells are in the rear, and when you place fish in the well you simply turn it on while there, to the automatic settings desired. The only other reason to use it is when you are in transit, which means you are sitting at the helm. The front Navigation switch is used across the country from Oklahoma to Virginia and north south from Illinois to middle Alabama and Georgia for night fishing. So you can hit your navigation switch when another boat is approaching while fishing to flash them as a warning and prevent them running over you. Just the concept behind the locations.
BCB, I like how you omitted Texas since it is a law to have your stern light on at night will stationary and the big motor off.I was concerned about night fishing with my Cougar since I have a hand controll troller and the bow lights can not be used with the troller.Have you thought about this issue and fixed this on newer models?
Texas law on white light is – All vessels including motorboats, canoes, kayaks, punts, rowboats, rubber rafts, or other vessels when not at dock must have and exhibit at least one bright light, lantern or flashlight visible all around the horizon from sunset to sunrise in all weather and during restricted visibility. Does not matter if big motor is on or off. My light switching at the bow works perfectly.BC Cougar, your bow lights do not work when using trolling motor or not allowed to?? Livewell controls. Again, mine work perfectly as is.
I guess what I meant to say is while fishing the light must be on, yes I know with big motor on or off…Hand controll trollers will not allow the bow light to be inserted in the socket due to hitting the light when turning the trolling motor.
ahhhh… not good.. love my motor guide!
The Puma FTD, Jaguar and the soon released Eyra models have the recessed bow light that will not impede use as they are recessed in the deck below the trolling motor bracket. You could go to one on your boat and elevate the trolling bracket to accommodate it. BCB
I just wish I could add livewell controls to my bow, I guess not!
cbass,You can add them to the bow, no big deal there other than a little effort. Though at BCB we always evaluate why and where something is the most efficient. Once you turn on your livewells, they should not be in need of more effort unless something were to change. You leave them in a setting for the remainder of your day and monitor them for activity. Are they making noise and the pumps come on in other words. You can turn them on when you place a fish in the well, and leave them on that setting from the helm when you are there. Everything we do at BCB is for a reason and we try to consider all factors in those decisions. Sure we make a foopah occasionally on our assessment, though it was not for no reason. Something might have changed or we failed to see another situation. Though we do try! What are your thoughts on why you need bow controls? BCB
BCB,My reasoning for the controls is that when turn on my fill pump I have to go to the back and turn it off. I fill my tanks and use my recirc pump with the timer. Based on the water temp, I will change the water several times a day by using the fill pump. Since the only time Im at the helm is when Im runnig, (fill pump wont work then) I find my self going back and forth to turn it on and off. The bow controls would eliminate this.As for the acc and the light switch, I dont have an acc conected nor do I night fish, so for me, these options are not used. However, since they are not flush, I step on them several times a day (have even broken one). I was just thinking that I could replace the switches with another flush livewell control and eliminate both issues.I feel like Im being picky, and its not a necessity, just wondering! It really says alot about basscat when this is the only thing I would like to change. Keep up the good work!!!
