Topic: Locking Battery compartment?

Just bought a new PII in January. Wondering if the battery compartment should have a lock on the latch. Seems strange that that compartment would stay unlocked. Also wondering what brand net works good with this boat. My net seems awkward (will not lay flat).Thanks,Pete

What if you have to get in there in a BIG hurry ?I dont want a lock on mine,,,,,the alarm will suffice.

I used the ego slider and put it over the trolling motor pedal and under the rod strap while running. Awesome net.

I would definetly put a lock on that box esp. if you have a alarm system on your boat. I would be glad to explain why if you want to shoot me a e-mail at [email protected].

Never really heard of anyone stealing batteries or bilge pumps. Theres plenty of boats around with rods and reels to steal!

they will steal if easy access. stinkin thievin humps stole the battery and box from my pontoon!! can you say pissed??

The rear deck lid to the bilge/battery area in my 96 Eyra is wired with the alarm system. Was with my 97 PII as well. Not sure about the new boats, but I would think so. Lift the lid, enjoy the noise! If you need to get in the bilge in an emergency…fire, broken pump, etc… probably dont want it locked. When I am on the lake fishing I unlock all of the compartments and disarm the alarm thus making it possible to gain quick access to the bilge/battery area if needed in an emergency. While traveling to the lake even with the alarm system activated it wouldnt take much to disarm the system with a bolt cutter to the battery cables and I could be out three batteries and need to replace the cables too. JMO.
