Drum brakes have more stopping power than do disc and we have a data test on the topic. The disc brakes are simpler. They are not that hard to do, though we would have it professionally done to reduce the time and trouble. It is just a simpler task if you have it done. If not, then you should buy new wheel cylinders, shoes, and seals. Get ready to spend the afternoon on this and be aware to test your master cylinder before you ever start. You may need a new one there also and you want to know that before you settle in for the job. Carry a roll of tape when you want to back up a large incline, and when you hit the latch, tape it open till you get it in the garage. BCB
