I had a 1992 Sabre until last year. BassCats last great due to their quality components and construction. Sounds like you are doing good research on the rig since you have had the engine checked out. The general concensus when looking at an older rig is that you need to check the transom real well. In the earlier years there was still wood used in the transoms so rot needs to be ruled out. You might also want to check the floor.
