Been looking at getting a new bass cat I have a saber ftd been looking at a eyra or a cougar ftd maybe a puma ftd havent really made up my mind I have seen them all up close never been in any of them tho do yall have any input or suggestions
I am a big guy65 , I have an 7 puma!! Fts me perfect, no more Indian style and busted knees for me!!
I had an older Pan2 ( 88 model ) and fished it for 17 years . GREAT boat , then I picked up my 99 Classic . — Im 68″ tall , and tip the scales at about 300lbs. , and I fit behind / under the console with room to spare . — Impressive , I must say . — Hoss
Eyra…then Cougar, then Puma. The Eyra is just wicked…I mean wicked with a 26 Fury or a 27 Bravo 1 XS. You wont be sorry.
I presently own a puma FTD and previously owned a Cougar FTD, but recently had the chance to drive a new Eyra. I was totally blown away by the ride and handling and really liked the lower seating position. The large step-up cooler makes access to the front deck very easy and the split rear lid is very convenient. I am a big guy and I slid right into the Eyra seat like it was made for me!
EYRA

It was on a 200SHO and easily would hit 73.5 mph plus in summer morning temps solo and 71 with two in the boat. I think Merc 200 ProXS was 71 an some change. 74.5 to 75.2 was the fastest I logged on that boat. Thats on a 20 boat!!!! Thats better then many PIIs and for sure better then PIVs which are smaller footprints. My point is not about the motors but how dynamic the hull is on a 200hp motor. I just learned there is going to be a EyraSP package with 225 HP max rating at a price thats going to be extremely attractive. Close to traditional PIV pricing. Cant wait to get more official details from BassCat on this one. Additionally, there will be limited color scheming for SP packaged boats. I dont take that as a negative but rather a price point thats going to make the Eyra very attractive to customers. Cant wait to see how the coloring will look. BassCat do you have any pics of the Eyra SP package? The Eyra drives very impressively in rough water too. For me after eliminating the hoot foot driving (personal preferece) its been liberating with cruise control attributes combine that with the Eyras behind the wheel cockpit it wraps around you with less head wind force IMO. I cant confirm this but I hear rumors the pricing on this package is going to be close to sub 45k range…… Higher if you get crazy with accessories and electronics…. BassCat will you offer the Eyra with a Single Axle Trailer ?One last thing. When I tested the pre-released Eyra with a 225 ProXS at the OI several years ago that setup flat out was smoking fast on the water. Hole shot is incredible and the hull very responsive. The Eyra is unique offering from BassCat that will blow you away with a 225 motor rating. Last edited by Flyswatter on August 10th, 2013, 3:39 pm, edited 5 times in total.
If Youre really serious about a boat, there are any number of them on this board and others. Pumas, Cougars and Eyras, If you wait till late winter, early spring guys might not be very willing to make a “Deal”. Theyll be fishing and not waiting around on a order boat or looking for one!! IMO!!
Eyra SP models will be single axle with option to upgrade the trailer to tandem. Handrails are supposed to be stainless also.
