2007 Puma has loose port side bumper moulding for about 4 ft length midship. I removed round plastic insert to tighten screws, to find that they are actually riveted approximately every 6 inches. I would like ideas on how to tighten them. It appears difficult since there is no access behind them.thanks!
On a 2007 most were riveted, though there should be a few machine screws every now and then along the outside rub rail. The rivets can be replaced, though BCB has never used the screws in the rub rail. BCB Admin.
thanks basscat 1971. so i am now guessing that i need to drill out the old rivets and replace with factory ordered ones. hummm, i wonder were the back of the old drilled out rivet lands in the hull?
I dont know if BCB agrees but on the port and starboard sides by the consoles where the rub rail was coming loose I went in and two part epoxyed some stainless steel screws in between the rivets to tighten up the rub rail. Have to make sure the screws are long enough to get thru the top cap and the hull but not to long to get into the wiring or PCV the wiring runs thru.
You may be able to pull those rivets out easily with pliers also, if you dont have narrow vise grips. We do it here, though it takes some force usually. BCB
