Losing speed in turns

Friction is the driver here. So we either generate more lift and reduce friction or increase power to overcome it. So I figure you can raise trim or get a prop that has more rear end lift or mash the gas more in same position and risk nose hookin it. My personal opinion is that slowing down when turning is a good thing. I usually lower my FTD and 250 to 1/4 trim and turn how I need to and the trim up hammer down and fly again. I can skip and turn but you catch a cross wake wrong and the die is cast as no man can overcome a nose hook when it starts. The decision usually causes it, not the lack of reaction timing or arm strength at speeds over 50. What kinda speed you talking? 20-30 and driving a winding trail or 50-60 and skipping?C.O.D. To me youre losing lift. Id change props or try trim lower with more power. Lower trim more power will be snappier.C.O.D. Jr. III

For me and the way that I load my boat, I have my plate lower than flush in the front now. I had the same issue getting the bow lift and would rather sacrifice a little on the top end and have the boat loaded the way that I like to fish. My plate is now sitting about 3/16 below flush on the front 24 Fury, 15-18 PSI top speed last time we let her eat was 65.2 w/ 2 guys loaded with BPS and full fuel. Best I can remember we were turning 55-5600 rpm

Yes we are talking the Margay with a 150 Pro XS, 24 fury with no plugs, my issues are getting better the lower I go on the plate. I was not getting the bow lift needed to keep the boat on plane at slower speeds and in corners, it would plow water (due to the weight that I carrying in the bow).Last edited by Mike Adams on May 3rd, 2013, 3:59 am, edited 2 times in total.
