Seem like every time fish Im getting trash in my stats. Geesh this is getting very frustrating. Seems like there would be a screen or something to prevent this. Oh I figure most anyone that fishes rivers knows Im talking about my 3 liter 200 mercury. I feel like my popit valve has trash in it also. Im not seeing the temp. Drop at 16 or 18 hundred rpms. Though its not running hot and I have good water pressure at top side. Any one else have this troubleLast edited by Redngoo on February 1st, 2016, 12:56 pm, edited 1 time in total.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I remember a post a while back where we discussed this. I fish the river and occasionally run through a bit of sand. always remember to back flush the motor and lower according to the manual instructions. Im not sure if youve picked of wood debris again but as long as you are catching fish in the same are, it would be hard not to continue to go there. or a canoe. you could always fish from a canoe
Ive tried back flushing. Awhile back when I got those big chunks in my stats I ponderd on the ideal of pulling the popit valve and inspecting it. Guess I will just to check. Just amazes me how pieces of wood of that size can makes it through the upperchambers of the motor. Ive said this many times Im running the river Ive fished many yrs (30 yrs +) most of them with a cat and a mercury motor. I was mainly curious if anyone during troubles with stats if they had wood lodged in the popit valve also.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
I,ve had wood in my stats once. Poppit has always been fine. Ive had grass seeds and very small debris get in mine causing it to not warm up. So small that when I pulled the stats, they appeared closed and clean. Put them in a cup of hot water and all kinds of small stuff fell out. After that, engine warmed up as it should. Its happened to me several times but only in the winter. With warmer water in the summer, I think the stats open enough so the small stuff passes through
Ive never seen anything close to what you posted. I would surely pull the screen in the lower section and check it. I pulled mine and it is a small plastic piece that I used a little compressed air to make sure nothing impedes flow. Im surprised that the temp doesnt climb if you are noticing this type of debris.

I just got the lower water pickup blocked off. Call chuck at service marine. Or Steven at r&r. Gonna pick it up this morning. Hopefully my battleship is a little more bubba proof now.
Now this is definitly a thought! Had already thought about marinetec the holes up. Never had one before. Toad do you have some contact numbers. I would love to call and see how they done this. My warranty is out at the end of April anyway. Ive never had a low water pickup in all my years. If its not needed I would gladly get rid of it2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
