Hey Guys. New here. Bought a 2000 Sabre about a month ago. Boat has been sitting in a garage for about a year. Started up on hose and runs fine. I took it to the lake and sounded like I hit something running about 20 mph. Felt a little vibration after that. Brought it home and pulled prop. All the splines look good but sounded like the prop was slipping. I put prop back on and it ran real quiet with no noise at all. Took it back to the lake and ran a short distant and it started again. Carried prop to prop shop- 26 tempest plus- and found the pitch is off on a couple of the blades. Getting prop back tomorrow. Do you guys think this could be my problem? Sorry for the long post and thanks for any help. Also what torque on this ? 150 XR6

Im no expert but I would definitely have someone look at it before running it again. Even if its just a slightly bent shaft it could cause big problems down the road. Its not like theres any spare room in there for stuff to be rattling around. Good luck & welcome to the family.

Thanks BIGMIKE. I cant figure out why it will run quiet for quiet a while and then all of a sudden I hear this little noise.

Hope its nothing serious, a good mechanic should be able to diagnose. Where are you located? Someone here should be able to steer you to a good one in your area.

If its a clicking sound the lower unit is going out.

Thanks guys. Im located in Memphis Tennessee. Hopefully it is something minor. Engine has very low hours on it- probably less than 100 hours. I will put prop back on today and just go from there. Thanks again.

Remove the oil drain screw and you probably will have metal on the magnet. It does sounds like you have a trashed case and we hope its only the guts.

I removed the plugs and drained lower unit fluid. No water in it nor any metal on the magnets-not a slither of metal. Thanks

I would call Mike Tabor at Southern Marine. He is very good with Mercury and sold Basscats at one time.
