In my 07 Puma I have a helm mounted LCF-1440 with a bow mounted LMS-334C. I thought the bow mount unit operated off the trolling motor transducer when the trolling motor is in the water, however when I pulled the transducer wire I found it attached to nothing. There is a screw in type pin connector at the end of the cable. Perhaps this needs to be connected somewhere that I cannot easily see inside the hull? The Bow mount unit works fine because I am guessing it is getting its signal from the rear transducer since these are two pin connectors attached to the back of the unit. Also, when the bow unit is on and I go to start the main motor, numerous times the unit shuts off as soon as i turn the key. Any idea as to why? Thanks Jim

Voltage is the reason it is shutting down. You have a drop in voltage that is turning off the LCR. The internal transducer is located in the front bow section for a front unit and not the rear of the hull. BCB Admin.

Make sure you have an adequate cranking battery…had a set up in the past that did the same thing when I hit the key to the big motor…battery had fewer crankin amps than required.

Thanks, my cranking battery is suspect of longevity and on the list for replacement. I hope that cures the shut off issue. Jim

to BCB admin: So If I understand your comment correctly, the trolling motor transducer wire that I found not connected to anything is correct. Huh, I am suprised! Thanks, Jim

We cant say on the wire, though trolling motor transducers are sometimes not connected by indication, though installed. And we dont use a clamp on our install as there are other mounting techniques. Some prefer a large wire tie, and others a clamp, plus some a protector covering the puck. Our guess is that you have a secondary transducer not connected and you can plug and play at your willing choice. BCB
