Back in the day before color LCD made it possible to see different strength echos, the flasher was the only decent way to see through grass, get an idea of your weed density, bottom hardness and weed height. I held on to flashers for a long time. I even hoarded Lowrance 2330s for a whilafter they stopped making them. About 2 years ago, I realized I was never even looked at the 3 color Zercom on my bow anymore, so I got rid of it. I still use the flasher on my console if Im not getting a good reading on my graph at high speed. That is about the only reason I know of to still use a flasher in bass fishing if you have modern electronics. Talking about flashers makes me feel really, really old.Interested in hearing other opinions.
