New to the scene of graphs. Have a 520C on the bow and a X38C HD on dash linked. Need to know if there is some articles on how to set these things up or am I going to have to have some college classes. Any suggestions how I can learn to use these graphs better so I can fish more will be greatly apppreciated. Thanks in advance.
The menu in the units sets them to share waypoints. You should be able to marry the units with little trouble.
Barely know how to turn them on and exit all the start up screens let alone set waypoints. Have read and read the manuals need hands on besides the emulator or something. HELP
Press the Menu Screens and there are options discussed in the directions as you work your way through those screens. It is really pretty self explanatory if you work through the screens.
I pretty much sat in my boat while in the garage for hours, and went through everything on every page/screens several times, over and over. Get the basics down and then the more detail operational steps. I try NOT to spend a lot of time on the lake trying to learn the unit(s). Never caught a bass sitting there on the water playing with it yet. I have even gone to BPS and and start talking to the salesman on the unit in how it works. (Not telling him I already own one) I have heard there are people who put on classes too.I do believe it is easier to learn the unit with hands on, someone showing you, vs on this board.Read this on the Texas Fish Forum… http://texasfishingforum….eral_Equipment_DiscussionHope this help a little..
as a very experienced user of eagle and lowrance my best advice would be to spend the time and read the book. after reading think it over and then reread sections of importance several more times, there are alot of parts that will be for more advanced users that will not directly apply towards bass fishing most lakes. the basic menues are the same with both the lowrance and eagles. any further direct questions i will be happy to assist you with. todd
Thanks, this will help alot. Going thru the simulator now. Trying to set up a new performance boat and learn how to drive it, graphs, trolling motor burned up with water in it. Heck dont know if I will ever be able to concentrate on fishing again. Sure I will but alot to digest when the older boat I had was start, fish and play.
Tschooler, if you wish to learn your units functions fast, also when and how to use them. This is the way to go.Buy this tutorial DVD. Will be no need for someone to show you anything after you watch the DVD a couple of times. No more having to refer to the manual. If you forget something, just watch the DVD again. Everyone that watches this DVD will learn, I dont care how knowledgeable they think they are.The part 1 DVD is all you really need for our Bass fishing. Trust me, you want be sorry. http://www.hightechfishing.com/Lowrancedvd1.htmlGlynn
http://www.lowrance.com/e…nloads/Product-Emulators/ Go here and find your unit and download the emulator. They are pretty thorough.
Lot of great advice though it is really going to take some time on the water playing with the buttons till you find what you are looking for. Best way is to find a submerged rock pile or brush pile (in 10 or more feet of water) that you know is there. Park the boat over top of it then play with the buttons for the correct image you are looking for. Begin with the sensitivity, adjust up or down till the clutter is there but very minimal, generally on mine it is around 82-86 percent, there is also an auto sensitivity function that works well right out of the box, another great feature for fishing deeper water is to set the depths at which you want to cover, there is not much sense in looking at the top 10 feet of water if you are fishing the bottom in 35 feet of water, you can adjust the unit to read the depth range that you are fishing say the 20-35 feet area vs. the 0-35 area, it will give you better detail of what you are looking at. Next set up your ping speed, you really dont want your ping speed at more then 50%, alot of transducers fail if they are pinging away at 100% all of the time, it is not needed. Then set the scroll speed to 100% if you plan on doing alot of idiling looking for bait or brushpiles. Waypoints should be self explanatory, hit the button twice to mark a waypoint by number, (you can edit this later if needed, bring a paper and write down the corresponding number to the waypoint of what it was you marked). Track lines can be set to numerous colors, pick the one you like and change the setting to the highest number of points it will allow I think this is around 9000, this will ensure your tracks dont delete as the memory comes full. Thats is a basic setup and these units can generally be used right out of the box with the factory settings, but we all know we are gonna play with the buttons. Also turn your fish ID to off and learn to read fish arches and not the fish ID symbols.Last edited by JSLAW on February 3rd, 2009, 7:03 am, edited 1 time in total.
