Has anyone experience any issues with thier hds graphs, when I turn it on it won”t boot up? When I turn mine on it boots to the lowrance start up screen then it pops up a message that the upgrade failed, But I aint tried to update the unit. Then it starts to reboot again, its a continuous non stop sequence that just starts over and over. Any suggestions as to what might be going on or to try. It wont even let me soft or hard reboot, I have to use the master power switch to turn the power off to the unit.
HDS 7 gen3 touch. 5 months old and already going out, questioning my decision to get Lowrance over Birds now.
I’ve had numerous Gen 1, 2 and 3 and never had an issue with any of them. Every brand is going to have some problematic units. I would try a soft reset and if that don’t work a hard reset. The Lowrance forum on BBC is very helpful.

Yea I’m having trouble!. My gets stuck on 1.6 ft though. I have 2 hds gen 2 link together. I’ve tried tranducers. Ethernet cable. Rebooted a couple times. Even that has enequal results. Funny thing I done software updates about 6 month ago. That when the trouble started.called lowerance (not much help of the 3 times I’ve talked with them). Even though there out of warranty the unit are only 3 yrs old. Mine are 8,s.
I had this issue on a HDS unit and BCB told me it sounded like a transducer. Well, I sent the head unit in to Lowrance just to be sure. They sent it back, tested, all OK. Next, I replaced the transducer. Yep, just like BCB said, transducer was the culprit. I think they’ve been in the boat bidness a long time.
Not wanting to steal this thread by far.
Apdriver. As stated my units are linked. This is a intermittent problem. When this problem occurs. It affects both units even though. I have unchecked the NETWORK SONAR they are stand alone units at this point. So I took my spare duser and checked it with each unit. Problem still occurs. ( the odds of both ducers and my spare being bad is slim to none).
Things I have tried.
1. Made sure units are set to the right transducer.
2. Swap each ethernet cables.
3. Perform soft reset. ( this helps for a short period then problem reoccurs.
4 . Both units are set to LOCAL on all sonar features .
5. Checked voltage ( set to be displayed on screen) 12.4 on bow 12.6 at console.
When these units are not linked and are acting as stand alone unit the only common factor is the structure scan box. This problem started when shortly after I performed the software updates. Im doing a process of elimination. . Oh yea. When I link the units back together buy using the NETWORK SONAR. It will show correct depth for a brief peroid. Remember though the problem is INTERMITTENT. it very aggravating. When the problem occurs. Oh by the way. I’m a Lowerance guy for many yrs. I’m stumped on this though.

This unit is only 5 months old, aint my problem no more, I am sending it back to lowrance this week and going to let them figure this one out, after talking to them they think it may have, for some unknown reason dumped the software. Frustrating to say the least, I had just started imputting crappie brushpile waypoints, those are gone now, as I had not saved them anywhere but on the unit. Grrrrrrr! Well back to loading them again, when i get my unit back of course.
What Generation?
Did you try soft reset?
Turn it on works fine for a while then it start going back to start up screen out of a 8 hr day on the water it may do it a dozen times or better what do I need to do
Very possible this is a low voltage problem

Robert, it sure could be. If the unit is not direct wired to the battery, which it should be anyhow, then that would be the first thing that I would try. Of course, the assumption is that the battery is good.
The wire on the HDS units is fairly small. If the supply voltage is not solid then you can see more line drop in the small wire.
The small power and ground wires make it hard to get good connections. I have open thought that some of our random power losses and freeze ups are caused with the connection between the small power wire and the fuse holder. I have been looking at going to a fuse block setup for mine. I need to get the block I am wanting to use then hope I can find time to do it when my son is not out in the bot and it is above about 40 this winter.
