Found it funny that these 2 units were not networked together on a boat that everything seems to be done so well –, But I have an HDS 7 in-dash , and an HDS 5 on the bow. The 4000 antenna is on the stern. HDS 7 has the power/data cable, sonar and NEMA 2000 cables hooked up, and the bow unit has only the sonar cable and the power/data cable. My question is the front unit alarms and sends error message that GPS connection failed or no connection established, so sonar only in front, contacted the seller, and he told me its only sonar in the front–so ok, BUT, Lowrance literature says the HDS 5 has an internal antenna, so it should have GPS function with no external antenna, ?? correct. Or would I have to link the units with an ethernet cable to get them to communicate?? I found a 3-way “T” connector under the dash hooked to the NEMA cable ( to HDS 7)– but not sure what they are hooked to fro there — its just a very tight space to work in.
