My Lowrance 28C HD (on the bow) is shutting off when I fire up the big motor. Im guessing this is from a voltage drop. I currently have a 28 series starting battery. Would a 31 series correct this? My HDS on the console never does this.Thanks, Al

Corrosion on the circuit breaker is a possibility. They can require replacement with the moisture they are constantly under. Electronic parts in your vehicle get air under the hood, though those in your bilge never see goo air flow and they have corrosion that hampers and messes with these little things.

Ill check that first. Ive added a fuse block under the console, and run all my accessories through that. It makes changing fuses easier to manage. I never thought about the original circuit breaker at the battery. The thing that had me stumped, is just the one unit was doing it, and they both come off the same power source.Thanks, Al

I am having that same problem with my bow mounted LMS-520. My HDS at the console does not shut off. I have also noticed that I have a voltage difference between my front and back voltage readings on my depth finders, what causes that? The 520 runs through the master switch but the HDS comes straight from the battery because I have to turn it off or it stays on. Any ideas on that?

I had the exact same problem. I switched from a 27 series battery to a 31 series battery and it did not correct the problem. I had an on board charger that I discovered was not charging my batteries to a full charge. I now use a manual charger and have not had the problem since. I know Bass Cat does not support the use of the on board chargers but that the market forced them to offer them on their boats. Try a manual charger and I bet your problem goes away.
