Completing the install of the HDS 10 on dash and 8 on bow but still not sure about side scan transducer mount……….Installation with wedge on secondary step pad looks best for results, but I hate to drill two 1/4 in holes in pad. Installation on jack plate looks like the big motor will interfere with scanning to one side if the big motor is down.Would appreciate hearing of experiences.Thanks

I have a 7 and 10 on my PIV and put the rear transducer on the jackplate with the Transducer Shield & Saver mount, I just trim up a little and get no interference. Mike

I put mine on the JP and have not had any issues at all with the motor causing any interference. Not sure how it would mount with the Hyd. JP but should be the same. If I had to do it over again i would have mounted the 2d transducer on the other side of the JP. But i installed the 2d about 5 months before i got the SI transducer. Though with both of those postions i quickly lose the sonar reading above 15 mph do to being out of the water, I would think the step is the best option to receive optimal sonar capabilities.

I made a made a mounting plate out of a 2″ x 1/8th” strip of aluminum and drilled holes in it for the lower jackplate bolts. Take off the lower jackplate nuts, put the aluminum strip on and reinstall the jackplate nuts. This way I could use bolts and nylock nuts (with loctite) to mount the bracket in the center(left/right) of the boat. Im not sure if this is the best place, but it seems to work well.

I mesured the thickness of the area on the jack plate and put some tape on the drill bit about 1/16 less then thikness as not to drill into the transom then tapped/ threaded the holes and used short 1/4-20 S/S bolts to mount it
