Bought a new to me puma last summer has 2 hds 8 units with side scan linked together. They worked all summer but this fall the side scan shows no source about half the time the other half it works fine and so on.. Sonar is fine. Im new to fishing graphs. Any ideas on the source of the problem. Thanks allot for any help on this.
I suspect your yellow Ethernet cable. I had the same EXACT problem with mine this past summer and it was that cable.Last edited by GRR884 on December 16th, 2013, 1:06 am, edited 1 time in total.
I think the side scan you mention is your structure scan. You get down and side imaging with structure scan independent of sonar. Check the power connection on your LSS-1 or LSS-2. Do you lose your structure scan on both HDS units at the same time??
mxcmxcIf you are losing structure scan on both units I would check the power connections to the LSS-1. Best and cheapest place to start. Could be something as simple as a corroded inline fuse holder. I think the LSS-1 has a light on it to indicate its powered up. Next time you lose structure scan see if that light is on to indicate the LSS-1 is powered up. If the light is on and you dont have structure scan check the connection where structure scan transducer connects to LSS-1. Richard
