Just bought a boat back on October 5th from one of the guys on this site. The console unit (lowrance 520) had been shipped out for repair. It would turn on by itself when it got damp or when it rained. If I recall correctly, the original owner had sent it in for repair on or about September 20th. He is going to ship it to me when it is repaired. Lowrance told him it would take about two weeks. The previous owner has called lowrance about 3 times I think – to get an update on when it will be done. Each time they say “two weeks”. I started thinking that I better call lowrance and find out how to transfer the warranty into my name. When I spoke with the representative she said “we dont do that”. I was a little stunned and I asked her why they wouldnt honor their product because essentially it was brand new. “Im sorry sir, we dont transfer warranties”. Now, the bow unit (a 510) is having issues. The temp gauge is not working any longer. It started giving false readings (like 15 degrees), and then it comes up and shows 32 degrees and flashes. Im not sure if it is a problem with the unit itself or the temp probe. I have a friend that will let me borrow his 510 to see if the temp probe is working. So, I hate to flame anyone but I just wanted to say thanks lowrance, for making such a reliable product and for standing behind your product – NOT. What happened to quality control? Its probably outsourced.FISH ON!
Contact Linda Colt. I have had great success with her dedication to Lowrance customers. ] Explain your situation to her, she will help out all she can. Good luck.
