Looking for some comments by Lynx owners on trolling motor shaft length. Is the 45 inch Ultrex ok for most conditions? (Great Lakes Fishing Excluded!). Seems like the 45 inch would allow easier placement of rods on deck and top would get in the way less when flipping.

Obviously the 52 inch would be better in extreme conditions.

Some pictures with boat in water with trolling motor deployed might be helpful.

45 inch is more than enuff. 52 inch shafts were originally salt water lengths. 52 if your going to be on the great lakes or off shore in the big rollers. Dont know why you would want to be there. Everywhere else, 45 inches is perfect.

I agree, go 45. I’ve got a 52 and it is jacked up high almost all the time, and still rarely comes out of the water. My next TM will be a 45. Probably a 47 actually. 😁

I also agree. I have a 52, and have never needed it to be buried. If I had to do it again, I would go with the 45.

I have a 52” and at times it will come out of the water if fishing in white caps. I used a 52 on a puma ftd, an eyra, and now a lynx. It does not impede anything on a lynx. Only on a puma ftd and that’s only if in the stowed position. As far as getting in the way in shallow water while in a higher position,I do not notice. Give me a 52 for fishing white caps because that’s what spot lock is built for in my opinion.

There, that should answer it some. It all depends on the type water and where you are fishing.
