I dont think you can go wrong with anything anymore except for maybe the evinrude. They supposedly have “fixed” them this year but they “fix” them every couple years so why risk it. I have a pair of 2003 Mercury 225 saltwater four strokes (mercahas) on my center console that have 700 hours on them and literally have yet to even hiccup. After 150 hours my 150 proxs on my Margay has yet to hiccup and is an awesome motor for a 150. Yamaha makes good stuff too, as does honda and suzuki.

You will love the boat, mine is pretty loaded only thing I wish I would have ordered was the step and grab pole for the trailer. the boat rides and fishes much bigger than its size, I really hope basscat always has this boat in their lineup as there is no other manufacturer that offers what this boat does for its size and storage size.
I was going to order a Margay, but decided on the Sabre FTD instead. Nothing wrong with the Margay, I just wanted a smaller version of my old PII. In fact, the Margay has a bit more front deck space than the Sabre. Here are the upgrades I was going to do to the Margay: Torsion axle suspension on the trailer; color upgrade on the console and fenders; upgrade electronics to at least 7″ units with side imaging on the console unit and DI on the bow unit; Add the recirculation option; LED lights and backup lights; Pole and step for front of trailer; I think a butt seat for the front is optional on the Margay…depends on how you fish; 1/2″ pin stripe in color of your choice (otherwise, its black); Hambys keel guard; passenger rod strap; I like Minn Kota, so was going to do the Fortrex, but thats a personal preference. You may or may not want all of those things…they do add up. Also, I would get the 150 engine, regardless of brand. Hotfoot is also a personal preference. Blinker trim is also nice. If it is not standard, the transducer protectors.

All of those things do add up. The color things you may delete, unless they are cheap enough to not worry about it. You dont HAVE to get the Torsion axle. The electronics…get the best you can afford without going overboard. The boat will run OK with a 115 hp engine, but the 150 would be something I could not live without, unless I was really watching my pennies. With maximum hp, the boat will sell quicker if you ever decide to sell. Nothing wrong with the Motor Guide that comes standard, I just prefer the MK because Im used to them. If you fish alone much, the trailer step/pole will keep you from getting wet launching the boat by yourself, and loading too. The keel/bow guard allows you to beach the boat without fretting about chipping the gel on a rock or ramp.
I plan to go with the evinrude g2 150 HO. On the bow Im going with the new 10″ Solix and on the console the biggest humminbird with Si that fits… need to find that out. Hotfoot, Velcro rod straps each side, hydraulic jackplate, butt seat up front, minnkota ultrex 24v, lighted livewells with recir, prowler wheels,LEDs and lots of sparkly color…Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will be excited to see this when it gets built. I have a dual console with the 150hp proxs, I will say I have the standard 3 inch single axle trailer with no brakes and 14 inch wheels and I have never had an issue towing or feeling unsafe stopping with my durango. Like I said I think the boat for this size and the way they package it is perfect. I will say I believe they have the vault hubs standard now when i bout in 13 it was buddy bearings. I love the glove box and the way the boat looks with the second console but at times wish I have the room of only one console when we fish three in the boat.Good luck
I contemplated a Margay as well after selling my Cougar FTD but decided to keep the garage space and get a Phelix since I just dont get to fish that much, I dont tourney fish, and there are some nice 25HP lakes by me. I got to see a Margay when picking up my Phelix in NC and it is a sweet rig. With that being said, I had a hard time not leaving the dealer with an a loaded pro staff Eyra they were setting up .
AquaTech should have one close by?
