The Margay is not likely going to change. They probably they will always have some form “Bump” or area that extends on any 17’ design.
Think about how much boat is required in a 17’ model to hold an 8’ Rod? What options do they have short of extending a rod box into the port side that conflicts with passengers and gear. You folks want 8’ rods and larger, so we ave to accommodate them. If we didn’t the rub from consumers would be ‘it won’t even hold an 8’ rod’.
We have to accommodate the 8’ rods in whatever design we have. Also 17’ to 18’ boats are known as loss leaders in our business.
They have no margins and thus the fiberglass bass segments are getting impacted by the aluminum segment for affordability reasons. The engine, trolling motor and those similar fishing vendor parts actually comprise about half the materials parts cost of the entire package. That also is compounded in expectations by the segment that is making payments on products.
It becomes a disproportionate percentage of their income expenditure and compromises the expectation on product. They sometimes expect effort more in satisfaction than the Jaguar consumer who knows you will exercise the necessary effort to provide customer service.
It’s a tight window and we are we know it’s hard to meet demands.
We hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
