My brother and I own the boat together and fish together a fair amount. I am curious what other Margay owners do with their co anger rods. Has anyone tried a bac rac version 2 with the adapter plates on the back of the Margay? I usually have 4 to 5 rods on the front deck and he usually has 3 on the back, right now they just sit next to the passanger seat but I am woried the fiberglass is going to get all beat up plus there is really no spot for the butts of the rods. Any tips or suggestions from the basscat crew?

Overall I love my boat but this really is the biggest flaw that it has.
Rods bouncing will not damage the vinyl. The vinyl is way more durable than this. There are areas to lay the rods and room down the side for them to lay. Some place the butts on the box lid further forward and strap them with a side mounted strap. The gel will polish back should you get abrasions in places.
From personal experience and use: +1 on bac rac (original) on rear of P2, -1 on the rear of my Eyra with adapter. IMO, great product for co-angler if your rear deck configuration will allow you to use without the adapter. Looking at photo of Margay rear lids, it looks like you could use the version 2 without the adapters if you just use the large rear lid only for points to secure.
HsvbcbThanks I am interested in your opinion of the version 2 on the back of the margay. I spoke with the owner of bac rac and he thought by looking at the back deck that the version 2 with the adapter plate would be best as you could utilize both rear boxes. My question for you would be looking at tha back layout of the margay do you think there is enough width on the big box to put the bac rac there? Obviously the butt end or reel ends would all be on one side, I am just worried there is not enough spread for the rods to be secure. Part of the reason this is more of a problem on our boat is we have a dual console margay so the area to the left of the passenger is tight as the rod butts are all over your feet under the second console. Thanks for your insight, I wish I could see a pic of the bac rac on a margay but so far it doesnt exist.Idea,I believe BBC sells the bac rac in their store I am wondering if someone at the factory would be able to confirm if it would work on the margay.Just a thought. As always thanks for everyones insight.

I just haveto watch whats going on over there while running and get people in the habbit of keeping the rods pushed forward and not letting them slide back toward the seat. A rod ramp built into this model in the future would solve all this and increase your sales imo.Last edited by Aaron Owens on February 5th, 2015, 11:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
