Fished a club tournament this past weekend on Clearlake. I drew a big partner (360) – fortunately Im only 150 or we would have been pushing the CG 550 limit for the boat. I did remove alot of equipment from the boat I knew I would not be using (crig, cranks, drop shot and lots of plastics) since I was worried about performance. I had about 20 gals of fuel along with the 4 batteries and power pole. It took a couple of extra seconds to get on plane at blast off, but was still able to run 61+ (have been running 67+ solo), not bad. Once the livewells were full it took a few more seconds get on plane and topped out at 57-58. By 2pm the temp was up to 110 and hole shot out of shallow weedy water required me to rock the boat (slight turns to left then right) to get on plane, but never required my partner to get up on the bow.I had added a TH marine pro-air stone system and put 2 frozen bottles of water in the livewells every 2 hrs and was one of 3 boats (15 total boats) that did not loose a fish – we had a pair of 15lb limits in the livewells (5:15 blastoff – 3:30pm weigh-in).Needless to say I was very impressed with the performance and fishability under these extreme conditions.BCB – my only suggestion to make to a Margay would be to move the pistons for the storage lockers to the bow end. I use the falcon boxes and have to leave keep them 10 inches forward of the cockpit wall in order to close the lids. I fill that area with smaller items (worm bags -etc) that normally would fit flat on the shallower bow area.Definitely a winner (no me – the boat lol).Jim Your Signature …
