margay with 115 sho

does anyone have a margay with a 115 sho. trying to decide beteen 115 and 150 wondering about performance

low to mid 50s with 115 mid 60s plus with 150. If money wasnt a problem I would get the 150 as it may be easier to resale in the future. The boat was actually designed to be ran with smaller hp engines.

My brother races a modified dirt track car. His motto – you can never have too much horsepower. Although I have seen him remove a plug wire when his car spins the wheels too easily!

If your looking for four stroke the price difference between a 150 SHO and a 115 F series is very expensive in relationship to costs. There remains to be a limited amount of the 150 HPDI available which we think would be less expensive than the 115 four stroke. If two stroke does not bother you the 150 HPDI is a really good engine and will last a long time with great durability. We would let price determine our choice and would not count out the 2 stroke variation which has more raw power than the others.

Boat is a beast with the 150hp. I have a merc but I get fantastic gas mileage and use very little oil. The big difference to me is the ability to cruise between 45-55 with little effort. I very rarely open it up in the 60s but for really long runs it makes a difference. I am still impressed with how well this little boat handles, I was on Kentucky lakes main channel last week and cruising at 30 on top of the rollers we never got wet. Ideally that is not what I want to be in all the time but I was not afraid to venture out on the main channel on a 20mph wind day. Either way you are getting a fine boat. One other thing for the fellow margay owners I have a dual console and fish alot with my brother and sometimes we fish 3, I bought the bac rac version 2 and it works perfectly on the back of the margays deck. Just in case anyone was ever wondering.good luck

Thanks for the replies. The margay just seems to have more room than the sabre for the money

I know they are running a special on the Sabre with it. You may be able to get the 150 HPDI for the same money or less than a 115 4 stroke. Definitely get the 150 either way.
