I could not help but notice the length listed for a Sabre FTD with swing away tongue is 19 8″ on the website where boat specs are listed. My Sabre FTD with a Merc 150 4 stroke and swing away tongue could not be put in any less than 20 9″ My question is who come up with that measurement? and are the measurements listed on the other models relatively close or ??Dan
I think I read something where 4strokes add to the length. Not sure if it is that much length however.
Bama, I know my engine could make a couple of inches difference but I also know it is not more than a couple inches bigger than the Optimax if that. It does say add 4″ for Yamaha but that is 4″ not over a foot. I would be interested to see what others are measuring their Sabre at. Maybe the factory measured it with a troller on the back Also curious how accurate owners have found the other length measurements on the other models?DanLast edited by MeanV2 on August 14th, 2014, 10:29 am, edited 1 time in total.
Id add a few inches for the 4 stroke and 6″ or 8″ for jackplate…I think my Sabre has the 8″.2011 Sabre FTD w/ Mercury 150 Pro XS, Power Pole Sportsman 2s, Humminbird 898 w/ 360 and 858 at bow, 898 at ConsoleFor lots of BCB love, follow me on instagram: @professorbeard
Are you telling me they do not allow for the jack plate that comes standard on the Sabre? If not why even bother giving a measurement? I doubt the Merc 150 4 stroke adds much, but I could be wrong. My last boat had an Optimax on it. You can tell by looking at the Yamaha it is bigger. My guess is the Sabre was mismeasured. Look at the difference in the storage lengths on the Sabre FTD compared to the Pantera II then the difference in the lengths of the boats on the 2. Something is not adding up.Dan
The Pantera II is listed as being 12″ longer than the Sabre FTD but the storage length (both with swing away tongues) is listed at 1 11″ more on the Pantera II than it is the Sabre FTD.Dan
Thats minimum storage length, engine trimmed down, tongue swung, whatever you can do to make it the smallest profile, trolling motor to stern outta the way length. How many ways could you measure it differently ? How many variations of equipment do you think you could describe available to change outcomes ?Is there a question here ?
It really would help to have width of each boat on its standard trailer listed for each model. No manufacturer seems to advertise width on trailer in their specs. Some of us dont have a warehouse, barn or hangar to keep our boats in and every inch counts when measuring to see if something will fit or not.

I really see no way a boat listed at 18 1″ has a minimum storage length of 19 8″ when a boat listed at 19 1″ has a minimum listed storage length of 21 7″. A foot difference in listed boat lengths is a foot, but minimum storage length is listed at just an inch less than 2? What I came up with is the Sabre FTD should be listed at 20 7″ which makes sense to me. My question is is that posted minimum length correct? and if so how in the heck would you get it? If it is wrong then it should be changed to the correct measurement. There might be someone who is looking at that 19 8″ figure and buy the Sabre thinking it is accurate when I think it is not. I realize there are lots of variables to make it longer but that is not what is going on here DanLast edited by MeanV2 on August 14th, 2014, 6:57 pm, edited 2 times in total.
