Is there a limiter that can be set for the max tilt? My motor will keep trimming to the point the boot(where all the lines feed into motor? Will hit the hull and then get knocked out of place. Is there a way to set the max tilt?
Mercury makes a trim limit switch from an actual mercury switch, or you can fabricate your own and place it on the upper trim relay feed line. Trim the engine up and the switch (mercury) looses contact opening the switch with fluid movement.
I just had one installed on my 14 Cougar/250 Pro XS and it is set to stop right before rigging tube boot hits the top of the transom..it works great and dont have to worry if partner tries to help by putting on motor support and is not watching how high he tilts it up..i highly recommend installing this and the Mercury part # for it is 899625K04..it is about 80 dollars for the module..
