I have a 2013 P2 with a MG trolling motor and when I turn the speed past 5 to quickly more to another spot, it only runs for 1 minute or 2 then looses power, like it is may only be running on 12 v (studdering).If I reset it at 5 or below it runs fine for moving.how can I tell if it is a motor issue or where else should I check?im not very experienced in running down electrical issues, but any suggestions would be appreciated.thanks

Check the circuit breakers as aging circuit breakers can cause many issues.

Check all connections . — Sounds like it loses contact under high amp load , which indicates a weak connection , Circuit breakers , as BCB suggested , are the place to start .

If your motor has a plug check to see that all the screws are tight inside the plug especially the 24V jumper.

I purchased the boat basically new (had 5 hours on the motor) in August, 2014, but Ill start there and see what I find.Thanks for the information.

Mine did the same. It was a bad breaker. Once I replaced the right breaker, it has worked great.

I have a Minn Kota that shuts off when running it at 90% or greater. It starts back without me doing anything except pushing the foot switch. Im guessing its the same issue? Any help appreciated.

BCB nailed it. Circuit Breakers. When you replace them make sure that they sit so they shed any water. Clean connection lugs and apply corrosion protection to all connection points. Should be good to go.Practice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
