BCB: Looking for a prop for my 06 Sabre DC with an 06 Opti 115. Running a Laser II 22 pitch. I went back and looked at the mileage test Bassmaster did last year at this time. A 115 with a 20 pitch equipped Sabre hits 50 mph, and a 115 equipped Ranger 170VS with an 18 pitch prop hits 70mph (??) , the Ranger is shorter but weighs the same as my boat, and all of the 115s tested had a pitch of 20 or less. With 2 people – both of my sons are 220 plus and I am 185- I am lucky to hit 44 and generally get 40-41. I have played with engine ht. and these are the best results I can get. WOT max rpm is 5000-5100, thinking of going to a 19 or 20 pitch and shopping props. There is a guy in Lodi (CA) that does excellent prop work and handles Michigan props. Merc props are high quality but more $, just wondering if there is anything cheaper that will do the job. Also considering aTrophy plus, as local bass boat shop mechanic said they give good lift and excellent top speed/handling on boats my size. Seems the more I learn, the less I know!
