He did all he could and fell just ounces short. Congratulations on qualifying through the Strens and making the best of this event! BCB
WoW lost by 3 ounces… Congrats to Ike arguably the 2 biggest tournaments of the year and 2 great finishes.
Knowing how Ike is, Im sure he is extremely disappointed and feels like he might as well have been in last place. I feel its just the opposite…I think he deserves a lot of credit for doing so well so consistantly at such a high level against the best of the best. Congrats Ike!!!Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Pretty telling that the BASS boys come over and take 1st and 2nd in the Cup.
Can you imagine second in the Classic and second in the FLW cup. I dont care what bass fan rankings say he is the best current angler in the world.
It kind of reminds me of Aaron Martens and all his 2nd place finishes in the Classics and regular season tourneys. Aarons day will come and Ike will certainly have his day again at the Classic and hopefully win the Cup one day. He will definitely be nipping at their heels the whole way if he keeps fishing the way he has been.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console

Actually Flyswatter, Luke Clausen was a BASS angler first. He started fishing the Western Opens and qualified for the tour through them. He didn;t start fishing the FLW stuff until FLW brought the Everstarts to the west, some three years later. Luke was a two-tour angler and didnt fully commit to FLW until the year he won the Classic.Terry Battisti
Just trying to make a point that there are great fisherman on the FLW Tour. Also, I feel many FLW fishermen can compete on the B.A.S.S. circuit too. Overall I think the B.A.S.S. might be slightly better but overall very little difference in my opinion. Let me state that is my opinion. Also, I may have a bit of a bias since I do have BFL routes (grin). Thanks for clarifying Claussens fishing history. It would be interesting to find out why Claussen walked away from B.A.S.S. and committed to FLW. If memory serves me right I think Claussen was more committed to FLW at the time when he won the B.A.S.S. Classsic and decided to stay with FLW. Didnt he win both the FLW Cup and B.A.S.S. Classic the same year? Flyswatter
All I can say is that I had them 1-2 in my “powerhook” FLW fantasy fishing. Could not get my other three to finish in exact order(next closest was 12, 36 and 43) or else I would have won enough to buy a new Jaguar(and home,truck,retirement…….). Knew Hackney could fish river systems well…if you can catch fish on the Arkansas River(inland rivers) you have the potential to catch fish on most river systems(i.e. Kevin Shorts win this year with Billy McCagren second in the same tournament on the Mississippi). As far as Ike……the man is unbelievable when it comes to fishing. Figured he could get keepers and could come up with enough to be in the hunt. Never count him out.Last edited by jignpig on August 3rd, 2009, 5:56 pm, edited 1 time in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
