Most of them say “motor down, and tongue open” or “motor down, tongue closed” You should see a difference of 2-3 w/ the break-away tongue.But you also have to take into account jack plates, if you have a bigger one installed when you order. You can also save a few inches if you turn the motor to one side after letting it down… My garage is 21-3″ from the wall, to the ribs on the garage door.
