Did it stop/start while you were on the button, or, would you get off the button, then when you went to restart, would not restart until you did “something” (turn the motor with the footpedal, slap the top of the trolling motor, pick it up and let it down). If the later, could be an armature problem. If the first one, check you plug for a loose connection inside, especially if you have recently replaced the plug.
