motor guide battery chargers

I have a “95 Pantera equipped with a motor guide max pro III on board charger. I just found out that this charger was involved in a national recall issued in 2004. My question is has any one else been affected by this recall and if so what model charger are the dealers replacing it with? I was told to disconnect it immediately and have it replaced by a regestered mercury dealer. Thanks

That is correct, Mercury issued a recall on that model. The MotorGuide will be replaced with a comparable model Dual Pro charger, though not sure of the model. Any Merc dealer should be able to handle the swap. Thanks, BCB

Mercury /MotorGuide will rectify your charger through your local dealer.

I had mine replaced in my 1998 PII in 2005, I removed it took it to the Merc. Dealer they check the ser # ( there is a list of numbers on the web I believe) and gave me a Dual Pro. Pro Series 3 Bank, which I love, I upgraded by buying the remote indicator and also the Dual pro charge as you run for the trolling motor batteries
