I have a 2007 PII with a 200hp Mercury Optimax running a 25″ Trophy Plus prop. Currently it will run 69-70 at 5600 rpm with me and a full load of fuel and gear. Im fine with that speed but I am wanting to get the front of the boat to rise more when I trim the motor at all speeds above 50 mph. I adjusted the jackplate last year and was able to achieve the numbers I have listed but any time I trim the motor to the #2 trim position (on smartcraft gauge) I begin getting a great deal of rooster tail and the front of the boat remains much lower than other Bass Cat boats I see on the water. This is even more noticeable when I have a passenger. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If you want more bow rise lower the motor try about 1/4″ at a time. The lower the motor the better a lever it is to raise the bow. Of course at a certain point you will lose speed also. It kinda sounds that you are high right now.I would go by the GPS and torque more than how high you can fly the nose.Irv
I agree with ischnell in that you are about right on your setup, I find the Trophy an Fury props do not lift all that well, but run very well in all water conditions. The Tempest on the other hand lifts very well but looses on rough water handling.
It may simply be the way this hull handles on the water compared to my previous rig. My previous rig was able to achieve a fair amount of bow lift and run on the pad at speeds above 50mph. I only see that happen with the PII and my current set up at speeds above 60mph with one person in the boat, and it takes over 65mph to achieve that with two persons. Thanks for the comments. I hope to get out this weekend and try some adjustments on the jackplate to see what results I can get. I dont mind lowering the motor some but I want to keep the skeg above the ground when I have the motor trim fully down. I dont want to be scraping launches when I load the boat on the trailer.
