I was running along just fine and all of a sudden the moter acted like it was running out of gas and stopped. I switched tanks even though had plenty of gas. Now it will only run about 3300 rpm, when try to go faster the motor misses and bogs down. I had a new fuel pump installed in Nov. so dont think that would be problem. Anyone have any answers as to the problem? Thanks Allen………………………..it is a 1994 Mariner 200 efi

First pump the priming bulb on the fuel line, and see if it is remaining primed, should stay firm, not mushy. Second, check the fuel filter for debris / water. May also check for fouled plugs. After this,,,,,,Mercury dealer ! Sorry, but if it is a fuel problem should be easy diagnosis, D.

Fuel maybe the problem but…….had a friend that had the same problem. Turned out he had a cracked head. Hope this is not the case. Look for metal shavings or tiny pieces of metal around the head or do a compression check if the fuel is not the problem. Martin

Check the valve for a better twist of the valve. It would seem it is either a cracked pickup, broken fuel line, bad end fitting seal, or the valve itself. Rick

I have had this problem once with a yamaha, there is a inline fuel filter or water seperator on your motor somewere, also on the end of your fuel pump there is a tiny filter screen on the end of that pump you probably have some trash on in that screen causing it to choke the amount of fuel that can go in the motor. clean that you will haft to remove the pump from the fuel pump housing, and then add a high volume filter at your tank.

On a 94 Merc I had the same thing happen to me turned out that one of my switch boxes went bad. I was only getting fire/spark to 3 cylinders. If you have a good repair manual and a digital OHM meter you can check the switch boxes and trigger and see what is bad or not. I would try this after you check out the fuel system as suggested above.
