Does the factory have a recommendation as to which method of motor support that is best to be used with the Mercury 4 stroke Pro XS in 200 and 250HP?

There are two ways to go- a traditional transom support bar from the trailer to the lower unit and there is the motor bracket made by DD26 fishing that does not attach to the trailer.

In reality a 2 x 6 provides more support than a DD26 or any of that type!

Factory has always suggested using the traditional style that attaches to the trailer. That is what I use for my 200 4S.

Phil what kind of transom saver do you use? You use the traditional that attaches to the trailer roller and the lower unit?

i use the cheapest one made which attaches to the trailer roller. The cheapest one is the one that does not have the round rubber grommets with the metal brads. It’s the one that has one piece plastic on each side. I then glue a piece of carpet on those plastic pieces. The carpet helps from scratching the gear case.

The outboards getting heavier and motor mounts getting softer, I believe the transom saver “old school” motor supports are the way to go limiting movement. I wouldn’t recommend the other options unless you’re sponsored by engine manufacturer and get a new one on a regular basis. Transoms may be stronger, but not sure roads have gotten any smoother.

Pretty sure factory ships them out using the block of wood. Transom saver from dealer.

What’s that last part mean?

BTW, I actually prefer the type with the rubber pads. That system really grabs the LU, and there’s no need for a bungee.

If anyone has purchased a motor support for a Pantera Classic (with 3″ trailer) – what length do you need to have this work? There are multiple lengths available. I got one adjustable to 31″:

Extreme Max but worried it will not work when I pick up my boat later this month.

Anyone out there who uses a traditional transom save know the length needed for lower unit to comfortably clear the ground?

BCB has the attwood unit on their website which is adjustable to 36″.

Let me know if you can help before I make an unneeded return.
