I have documented some Motorguide shaft noise challenges in the past and wanted to follow up how happy I am with this trolling motor two months later . After making some minor updates, most notably troll perfect where the two shafts meet, my trolling motor is as quiet as any Minn Kota Ive own. Not saying better but every bit as quiet. Make these minor adjustments and you will be good to go with a stealth quiet operating trolling motor.

Glad you got it fixed… any tips on how to get it out of the stowed position easier? I have to snatch on the rope hard a couple of times before it pops free.

To get mine out of stowed position easier I do two things at once: push down on the head unit while pulling the rope, you will feel the latch release and you can lift up…..just give the head unit a little push down, toward the carpet, and pull rope, should be good to go..

Problem deploying…This is a twisted bracket. One corner, or two, is tighter than the other side and has the bracket twisted. They can develop a twist after they are stored as the mount seats. The twist prevents the pins from releasing easily and pressing down on the head pulls the pressure off the release pin.Run two flat planes across the bracket and Just loosen a corner till it is easy to operate.

It seems the pins get locked so far back that I have to manually pry them forward with my screw driver and Im good to go. If problems are beyond that experience BassCat has posted a fix and good to know for my future reference.Last edited by Flyswatter on March 12th, 2013, 12:43 pm, edited 1 time in total.

A little grease on the locking pins once a month helps too

Agree with the Troll Perfect, works great. Also, if you have a bounce buster that is really tight pushing against the deck it can cause T/M to be hard to release. Mine was, I cut it about 1/16th inch shorter and releases easier now, also grease on locking pins every few weeks too!

All I got to say is no more shaft shaking and rattling…. My Motorguide opinions are changing. Maybe Motorguide needs to buy out “Troll Perfect” to eliminate this potential for their customers.

We think there are a few things they could learn from this all. They already know these details and they just dont have the extra jingle in the price tag to execute labor to address the solutions.
