Have a 14 margay vision your package with the 75lbs thrust motorguide. I have always had minn kotas. Anyway will be out tomorrow for the third time, I am having a hard time releasing the motor from the cradle. Is there something that needs to be loosened up? I feel stupid but I cant figure why it is so hard to release. I have played with all of the knobs but nothing seems to work.

I usually step on the head of the motor while pulling on the rope. Releases right away.

Step on the knob that you use to tighten the shaft. Releases the pressure from the pins. Balance the torque on the bolts through the deck. Having one too tight can throw the rails out of parallel. Also, make sure to grease the slots where the pins go.

Mr Bangert tagged the solution. The rubber washers compress and allow one lot to be tighter than others, or they seat some and it begins to jam up as yours is after time. Tighten or loosen opposing corners till the rails are parallel.

Had the same problem until I discovered that I had broken the rear left mounting bolt. Guess I hit that one wave a little too hard?

I learned that putting some downward pressure on the head was the trick, but I also had to take a couple of the metal washers out of the rubber tip on the bounce buster to effectively shorten it a bit.

18 years of M/Gs , always had to push down on the head to release them . — M/K Maxxum , pops right up .

Fished this Sunday at Lake Geneva and had no problems, turns out like above just stepping down on the black bolt releases the pressure and it comes right up. Never had to do that on any of my minn kotas. Did I say how much I love this boat, still afraid to drive it at its limits though.
