Just wondering what the percentages are for how many Basscat boats go out the door with Mercs, how many with Yamahas, and how many (not many I assume) with other brands?If I had to wager I would go 75-80% Mercs, 20% Yamaha, and 1-5% other?

I think as Merc transitions to 4 stroke – youll see Yamaha climb. Yamaha already ripped off that bandage and the SHOs now considered a solid choice. With Merc rolling out the 115 ProXS 4stroke – the opti has to be getting short lived.Before I get flamed – theres nothing like the sound & smell of 2 strokes before a derby. I just have to think EPA pressure is forcing the Opti out. By putting accepted names like “ProXS” on new 4 strokes – it cant be long.

I see mostly Mercs, but have been noticing more Yamahas on cats lately. Especially on Caracals.

I have an Opti now on my P4, I like it alot, Im pretty much a Merc guy. But in looking for the next boat, I wonder if the Yammy is making headways into the market more, what advantages it has, etc.

I repowered my PIV with a SHO, its a great motor. Plenty of torque, easy oil changes, no oil tank. I am currently running a Mercury, but would not hesitate to own another SHO.

Dont count out the Evinrude G2– it is everything its touted to be according to owners I have talked to! Having said that I am still pretty happy with my 07 225 HO!!
