Figured Id share my project maybe would help someone wanting to do this.I had a 718 in dash wanted to do major upgrade to my electronics situation. So I pulled the 718 went to a local sheet metal shop I deal with and had them cut a sheet of stainless large enough to cover entire hole were 718 was and allow enough glass to bolt plate in at four cornersThen I simply bolted a piece of aluminum angle iron to my plate drilled holes mounted gimbal bracket to the angle and drilled a hole high in the plate and siliconed a grommet from humminbird install kit into the plate for my pass through cabling I cut two strips of aluminum flat and ran them from top to bottom mounting bolts on each side to reinforce the glass letting the flat overlap past the mount bolts 3/4 inch or so top and bottom I also posted a pic of my 7 on the same plate Steering tilt is not affected at all and you can adjust the helix for glare Its rock solid your top two gauges will be slightly blocked not totally After primer and several costs of hammer finish paint I think it looks great Hope this helps with lots questions Ive seen posted Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkLast edited by coolemoff1 on April 2nd, 2018, 4:58 am, edited 5 times in total.
