Mounting new trolling motor.

I have a pantera 2 2013 traded my motor guide trolling motor for minn Kota fortrex holes do not line up for new trolling motor what steps should I take to properly install new holes and should I drill new holes for aluminum brackets that tuck under the fiberglass?

It may be that there will be those with other ideas, but since you have not yet drawn any answers, here goes:I would fill the old holes completely with silicone sealant and start over with new holes for the new mount. Leaving the old holes (vs. glass and gel coat repair) allows for you or another owner to reuse them if a motor switch is in the future. The silicone provides a very good waterproof seal. Layout the new holes carefully and install as per instructions.My 2 cents.

I did the same last year. I installed the quick disconnect bracket first then all you have to is to mount to motor to it and secure with the security rod. Some holes did match, most had to be re-drilled. Just removed the power connectiong for the TM and you can access beneath the area as necessary to hold the nylocks in place or whatever type of nuts and bolts you are using ( be sure to use some large fender washers to help give a bigger supporting base). First, put some silcone in the holes you are not going to use, mark the new holds and drill very easy. I did place some masking tape around the drilling are in order to see the new marks for the holes as well as to help protect from any spinters. Sorry this is not a step by step but do hope it helps.

I would just drill the proper holes in the Fortrex mount and use the existing holes in the top cap from the old MG. This is what I did when upgraded from my old MK 101 Maxum to my new MK 101 Fortex was quick and easy.

The Fortrex holes will line up with the Motorguide. You may have to remove the right sideplate to expose a second set of holes. The only problem in mounting a Fortrex to some of the older Cats is a clearance issue between the switches that are under the arm of the trolling motor and the trollingmotor arm. I would call BCB and see if they have the underside backing plates already drilled and see if they template the motors or do everyone different. I would bet they template them and have the brackets already cut and drilled when they get to the finish room.

I drilled new holes in the boat and drilled new holes in the brackets underneath motor is secure and looks good I was going to just drill holes in trolling motor but the base isnt quite as wide as the motorguide was so that wouldnt have worked all an all not that bad also had to drill new holes for foot pedal and adjust depth finder due to minn kotas larger foot pedal

As mentioned the Fortrex has some additional mounting holes that are hidden and you need to remove the side plate to access them. This worked for me and did not require additional drilling. Sounds like you figured out a way!
