Need some help or ideas on mounting my Humminbird 859. I have had a couple of units mounted on top of the dash where the ram mount ball is in the picture( Far left corner on top of dash). When running during early morning or at night its hard to see around the unit. Where would be another good spot to mount? I have thought and seen guys mounting on the side wall in front of the gear shift. Is there any other possible areas I could be missing? Model is 1995 EyraThanks in advanced!

you could potentially take out one of your guages and install a ram ball in place of that.

Im not sure if the Eyra has the hand rail. If so, you can mount to the hand rail, there is a special mount for the rail.Thats what I did with my 98 Pantera II.

Yes, the Eyra does have the rails. I did not think about that. What gauge could be pulled out to mount anything to?

you can just mount the sonar on the console with out the arm, that will lower it and not cost u a dime. another route is to get a different mount, Ram makes a mount that you can put on the side of the console:http://www.basspro.com/RAM-Mounts-Swing … uct/98428/ swing it out the way to the center of boat when driving and swing it back over the original location of your sonar when fishingLast edited by socalpIII on December 17th, 2014, 12:49 am, edited 1 time in total.

Im thinking I might mount off to the side in front of the gear sift or mount to rail. What would be something that I could use to cover the holes on top of the dash?

Years ago I bought a used boat that had multiple trolling motors in its previous life. Trolling motors wee mounted on both the left and right side,as well as a couple of graphs. There were a lot of holes everywhere. I covered the holes on top of the dash with the rubber non-skid material that is used on the trailer steps. I cut a square piece, rounded the corners……it looks great.

You can get diamond plate rubber with adhesive backing from harbor freight and cut it to desired shape, plus I think it would look good there as well

I made an aluminum bracket with the same hole spacing as the mooring cleat near the control arm. If I need to take the unit off, I just put the mooring cleat back in with the original screws. It works well for me and I didnt need to drill any holes.
