I posted a question about a Ski Towbar install a few weeks ago on the forum. I got several good tips and even talked to a tech at BCB. I devised a plan to get the job done to suit me and following is how I went about it. Hopefully this will be helpful to others in the future. First order of business was to get the main pylon pinned to seat receptacle. The pylon came with a hole drilled in the Stainless Steel core from Starboard to Port. Instead of trying to hit this hole I decided to drill a complete new hole through seat post and pylon from stern to bow, which was a much easier direction to drill straight. I measured and drilled high enough to drill slightly above the oem hole. Bottom picture shows the locking pin installed to confirm fit. Next Angles were figured so I could get a ball park idea where I wanted to mount lower bolts for support arm attachment. Next I placed masking tape on general area to make marking easy and keep bit from crawling around. I measured from the center of each cleat in 10 7/8″ then square off of rear deck back 4 1/4″ Once marks were made I drilled an 1/8″ pilot hole. Then drilled the 5/8″ hole with a sharp spade bit. After that hole was drilled I checked to make sure bolt would fit through hole correctly. Then clean up the shavings and off comes the tape! I then took a battery powered rotozip with a sanding drum to chamfer the gel coat around the hole. Finished hole. I had cut some 1/4″ X 3″ X 3″ aluminum backer plates to reinforce the underneath side where the support arm attachments were going to mount. I roughed up one side on a stationary belt sander and placed them on the underneath side after running a bead of 3M 5200 around the plate. Got the bolts placed through the hole and finger tightened. Assembled the pylon and support arms to get everything positioned correctly and tightened up. Finished on top side once support arms were removed. Arms went back on, lined everything up, and tensioned it slightly then clamped ready to drill support arms for through bolt. I then drilled an 1/8″ pilot hole from each side of the support arm center on existing hole in outer arm through the inner arm. I then drilled out one side to 1/4″ and place an old 1/4″ bit in that hole to make sure things stayed aligned. Bolted up and done! Finished job looks pretty good and was pretty simple install. It seems to be very rugged! If anyone ever sees this and has any questions feel free to contact me!DanLast edited by MeanV2 on September 30th, 2015, 7:06 pm, edited 4 times in total.

Nice job Dan, real clean installation. Great pics too.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing, Dan.
Thanks Guys! I know when I was searching I could not find much info on it or even a picture of one installed. Just hoping it might be helpful to someone in the future. Also Thanks to falseriverrat for making me a great deal on a new, never before installed Ski Tow Bar!Dan

I have worked construction for over 40 years and have drilled several holes in fiberglass/acrylic showers/tubs and have used spade bits a lot depending on hole size, but I listened to all suggestions. Once BCB told me that is what they used it was good enough for me. I am not sure how you could have drilled a cleaner hole. I am convinced a Sharp spade bit is as good as any other option if not the best option.Dan
Wat matters is . IT WORKED AND WORKED NICELY! Im sure many ways woulda worked. But in the end its wat makes u comfortable performing the task at hand! Looks like a clean non chipped hole. I dnt like drilling holes in fiberglass no more than you. But sometimes to get wat we want we have to. Again I will have to say VERY NICE JOB.!2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
